The story behind the fleece: Suzanne & Klökkur

My name is Suzanne and this is the story of how an idiosyncratic Icelandic horse and an unexpected vet bill led to the creation of my business.

Becoming a team with Klökkur

In 2019, Klökkur (born in 2012) came into my life. He is my first own horse and, as is typical for Icelandic horses, he has a character you can't ignore. Klök has humor, a strong mind of his own, and in recent years he has taught me exactly what it means to truly form a team. We train dressage together, but we also often go to the forest or the beach.

Our journey was not always smooth; we had a lot to learn from each other. This very search for what is best for my horse laid the foundation for the products I now sell.

From necessity to craftsmanship

The idea for the sheepskin saddle cover originated very practically. I rode with a treeless saddle and was looking for a high-quality Zalea (sheepskin cover). However, the prices from suppliers of these Zaleas were substantial, which made me think: "I should be able to make that myself."

After a period of 'trial and error' and a lot of testing, I found the perfect method to create a fleece that not only feels great but also stays firmly on the saddle.

The company got an unexpected kickstart due to a less pleasant moment: a hefty vet bill for a colic treatment on the weekend. To pay for this, I sold my self-made fleece. The reactions were overwhelming. There proved to be so much demand that I decided to turn my creativity into a business.

Not standard, but exclusive

I'm a go-getter and quite down-to-earth, but I do have an eye for quality and exclusivity. You won't find standard white sheepskins with me. I select the most beautiful sheepskins with unique colors, patterns, and large XL sizes.

Every saddle deserves a cover that is as unique as the horse under it. Whether you ride recreationally or train seriously: comfort and appearance go hand in hand with me.

Does your saddle have a unique size or are you looking for a specific color? Feel free to contact me. I'd love to help make riding even more comfortable for you and your horse.
